Exam Details & Guidelines

Overview, pattern, eligibility, syllabus & grading

Kolkata Police (KP), established in 1866, is one of the oldest and most disciplined police forces in India. The recruitment for Constables and Lady Constables is conducted transparently by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB).

The recruitment process consists of 5 tiers:

1. Preliminary Written Test (100 Marks): Elimination screening test.

2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Standardized height, weight, chest benchmarks.

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 1600m run (Male) / 800m run (Female).

4. Final Written Examination (85 Marks): Main merit evaluation test.

5. Interview (15 Marks): Spoken language test and personality appraisal.
